Since its inception, The Workforce Investment Board has made great strides in bringing together members of the private sector and representatives from a variety of public agencies in order to develop and implement a coherent system of employment and training programs and services. Their efforts have helped to create a more efficient and effective workforce who are able to attain and maintain high levels of productivity and earning power.

Of paramount importance to the Workforce Investment Board are issues relating to the labor market and the preparedness of the workforce to meet the future needs of Gloucester County employers. To this end, the Workforce Investment Board has implemented an integrated workforce readiness system, which is capable of meeting the needs of students, job seekers, employed individuals and employers.

However, the programs and services of the workforce readiness system must be continually evaluated to ensure that we are meeting the on-going needs of job seekers and employers throughout Gloucester County. The Board must be dynamic, not static. This will allow them to be flexible and provide the types of programs that can make a positive difference.

It is clear that economic development and workforce development are inseparable. Therefore, if we are to maintain the quality of life that we are so proud of, the Workforce Investment Board must continue to provide the framework necessary in order to train workers to meet the challenges of the global economy. The Board of Chosen Freeholders supports the Workforce Investment Board in their efforts to meet this challenge.
